Client: Abdulla Al Futtaim
Main Contractor: Al Futtaim Carillion
Consultant: Fluidity Design Consultants Inc, Los Angeles
About this job:
The biggest challenge in this job was to install a 5 storey high steel structure for suspending several steel chain links for the Cymbal Water Feature. At the bottom of this water feature are musical Cymbals to allow for water to trickle down upon them, thus creating a soft musical tone.
Another challenge was to create an even waterfall from the main water feature that holds the stairs from ground floor to level one of the mall. Since the water feature is not evenly structured from the top, this was difficult to manage, but not impossible. If you see the water flow, it is consistent throughout all the four water bodies of this water feature.
And a third challenge was to clad the shells onto the Shell Water Feature – cladding here was very important since the effect of the water had to be that of a beach – where in the sea water comes gushing onto the shore, thus creating foam / froth.

Client: Emaar Properties
Main Contractor: Joint venture between Dutco Balfour Beatty, Al Ghandi, CCC
Consultant: (for internal water features) D. P. Architects
Consultant: (for external water features) PAEMS Engineering Ltd.
Project Manager: Turner Construction Company
About this job:
Challenge 1: To clad two huge water features inside the mall. Basalt stone fixing was very important in this case. Water is an element that cannot be controlled – and so if the cladding and the degree of cladding was not done right, then the water would most likely be thrown off the wall, and onto the onlookers.
Challenge 2: The upper trough that holds the water to be fed to the water feature has to be aligned correctly with the least difference in levels. Had this not been aligned correctly, the water fall that you see today would not have been falling off evenly throughout the length of the water feature.
Challenge 3: There are two external water features that have a choreographed sequencing of the nozzles with the lights. Programming was critical in this aspect so as to match the nozzles effect with that of the color changing lights.

About this job:
The biggest challenge with this job was the supply and installation of big sized G.I. piping of up to 500mm in diameter. This was needed for the big water fall behind the elevators going up to the Duty Free in the Departure. Apart from this, sophisticated equipment, like D.E. filters, magnetic descaling units, pumps up to 55 KW, etc. were used in this water feature.

One of our most prestigious water fountains are located in the lobby of this fountain. We did excellent quality work for a fraction of the cost of what an international installer would charge. Upon opening of this hotel, we have received several inquiries to duplicate this fountain.

Main Contractor: Khansaheb Civil Engineering LLC
Consultant: Arif & Bintoak Consulting Architects & Engineers
About this job:
A simple coordination was required with the hotel’s official clock and the pool’s water fall system. Each of the 12 hours is represented by a separate nozzle for water fall. Thus, at 10 AM, 10 of the nozzles will be working. It’s quite an interesting feature.
